Not sure when we’ll be out again. I had asked (several times) Christina about the second week in the Crioula. She never got back to me.

We’d like (and previously had asked) to fit the week around the completion date, such that we could snag and hand-over.

We are holding-off until we get a reliable date…..we may be some time, along with the rest of Block D.

As always solid inputs – many thanks – let’s hope when those of us in Block D get to that stage we can also have a postal vote option. I do not want a small local group forming a ‘gang’ with the management company and voting things in or cash out of my pocket unless I get a vote on the subject.

Keep on enjoying the apartment, we think about what may one day become ours most of the time .

Interesting comment about the Management Company. I raised this about 2 years ago that even when we have the apartments, we’ll have to deal with this thing called the ‘management company’.

Might be worth getting some contact details for Robert as if he’s in a business closely associated with this type of thing (plus on site a lot of the time) and he’s having a few questions, then I ask what challenges and (problems) will be presented to the rest of us?

I stand to be corrected, but I thought the road outside the Djadsal development was EU funded and was part of the great plan to build a mini-super highway round that part of Sal island and go as far as the Rui in the initial phases. There was talk a couple of years back of €200million being earmarked to help Cape Verde keep on a ‘fast track’ to join the next phase of an expanded EU.

To answer your question, it’s called….greed! Some might even say avarice.

Jean & Snedds – thanks for posting the photos, it was good to see some small changes – the pity is that the changes are so small after so long for us Block D buyers. However, messengers are most certainly not being shot at!

It is a great support that Forum members are keeping everyone up to date with these posts and long may it last.

Jean, Snedds (and others) delighted you are enjoying the delights of Sal, we hope to be joining you all again sometime as it is still a great location and has so much potential.

You’ve said it all…only way I see we can progress, as legal is a losers game, is to stick together and starve Turinvest and hence Stefanina Group of new funds.

My view is; reinstate the existing contract as certainly I have no other agreement, honour the clauses (in full), and, introduce a reliable third party who will hold any new funds to be released only at such time that the Block is completed and fully commissioned. Turinvest have in my view shown themselves to be thoroughly untrustworthy and I can see no compelling reason to write any more cheques to directly them, as it is they who are in breach of contract pretty well in every way – even down to their own force majeure clauses.

The other route is to give them as much bad publicity as possible – Bunga bunga looks positively saintly in comparison to what we’ve been put through.

If it’s not stretching the meeting too much can you get an update on Block D? As you’ll be aware from the Forum, investors still have no planned (let alone a committed) delivery date for Block D. A nudge to restart the ‘newsletter’ might also assit Turinvest to salvage some of the relationship damage created.

Best wishes and enjoy the stay in wonderful Sal.

Anyone want to stand-up and say that they authorised NDR to negotiate on all our behalves? If not, then my view (and I think we’d be backed up by a professional standards body and maybe even a judge would agree) they have exceeded their role and in doing so have damaged the investor future negotiation position. The starting point has to be the Turinvest contract of supply which has a series of clauses that cover default by the supplier. I’m not aware that any of us ‘held a gun to Turinvest’s head’ to make them raise this contract – it was their contract which was presented to me as the standard they operate to as “they are a large respected international developer” – these were the words used when I questioned a few elements as to how robust their contract clauses were.

Heard a rumour that Turinvest management were going to talk to Block D (and some Block C) investors on site – apparently suggested by Turinvest on the change of ‘management’. Has anyone heard of this or has it happened already?

My fear is that we’ll just shovel more good money (at premium product prices) after bad; for a third rate product that all evidence today points to not having a single enforceable contract clause or guarantee. That’s a pretty bum deal just about anytime, anywhere, for anything.

Anyone got any recent updates as to progress – all indications are things are slowing down? A few rumours about but would like to hear something definative from Turinvest, as we’ve been at this now for 4 years as it relates to Block D.

Thanks for posting the photos – some progress which is good news for Block D buyers. The dual carriageway is beginning to look to smarten-up things. Rate of progress on Block D looks like with 4 months to go to Dec 2011, completion by then is wishfull thinking. Maybe another 4-5 months into 2012 will see it right.

Block C looking quite the business from the outside.

I’m sure I read this before but has anyone asked Turinvest to use lime based paints rather than the acrylic/plastic based paints that form a non-breathing layer? In buildings in the UK and there are quite a few of them, anything built much before c1800 did not have a damp proof membrane, hence the walls constantly ‘wick’ the water and via evaporation (plus not placing too much right against the walls) damp is not a problem. A perfectly pleasant equilibrium is achieved. Generally the worst thing you can do is to stop the walls ‘breathing’, so any modern water proofing type paint is a no-no.

Perhaps if we had Turinvest look at this from a ‘traditional’ building point of view and how the millions of historic buildings around the world survive with damp walls, a cost effective solution exists. The challenge is how to get Turinvest to engage in constructive dialogue rather than what today’s solution is, which seems to rely upon draining the Atlantic Ocean!

We were told Dec (for clarity 2012) as well – have asked Turinvest to clarify as progress observed on site does not support this level of optimism. We also await am updated progress report.
