Good for you. I will do the same although it wont hurt if the fraud squad and the mayor investigated this matter also. If only the local government knew what a great PR job that Turinvest have done for Cape Verde.

According to Turinvest Block D is sold out. They are hoping that we will all go away and write of our debt. I wont be. I have contacted the serious fraud office and the European Anti-Fraud squad and will petition the Mayor of Sal to start an investigation.

I firmly believe that Turinvest will be selling will be selling the block to another developer or will simply demolish it and start again. Unless something is done now our money is gone.

Once again Turinvest have misled us. Another lie sent out, to buy them more time. I think something has to be done very soon or we may find ourselves statute barred. 5 years ago I had a completion date for August 2007, and here we are 2013 and still in almost the same condition as when we purchased, what a insult.

Anything that has been said before has been a lie, Why do we think the future will be different?

I will try that restaurant although I imagine by the time my apartment gets finished whatever dish I order will be need carbon dating.. Tony Robinson and the time team won’t be able to work out what once stood on the site.

Has anyone got anything to report? Surely one of us will soon locate the lost office of Turinvest?

Has anyone actually heard anything from Turinvest? Any updates? Any news?

I have just dropped them a note today on something else – I’ll see if I get anything back. To be fair I have found a marked improvement of late as I think (within the resource limitations) they are trying to do their best.

A newsletter would be a great start – even if some times it is repetitive, at least we’d all have the comfort of knowing that Turinvest are sticking with this development.

    Best wishes

I think this is the problem with Turinvest. They play each hand differently. Some people, they will ignore, while others they will placate. Either way, our apartments are not getting built any quicker and patience and tempers are running short. We were promised at Easter a full report, this has not been forthcoming, not even wishing to recite the multitude of historic promises (or lies, depending on your point of view) that have been made by Turinvest, lines in the sand have to be drawn, as 2013 will come and go, pretty much the way 2007 did and 2008 and so on.

Pressure needs to be applied, a established consistent dialogue with more than a paid lacky has to be set up with Turinvest. Even , God forbid, perhaps putting a few workman on site. I am just concerned that very soon whatever one calls our contract with Turinvest may become statute barred in whatever jurisdiction it has governance.

No doubt Turinvest read this forum given that it does not bother with corresponding with e-mails and can we just have an update on your newsletter (last edition was May 2006) as Mike suggests?

People are alive on this forum then!!!!!

Had to post that re NDR as i was beginning to think everyone had just given up.

Think we should all try to get over to Sal and start knocking on peoples doors.

Turinvest have once again gone very quiet. I have not had an e-mail responded to in 6 months. Totally intolerable. I am getting to the stage now where I will be asking the serious fraud squad and their Italian equivalent to look into this matter as quite frankly we are being taken for fools.

I also think this forum should be used for contact puposes only rather than battle plans.

I am afraid that I have to agree with most of what Mike says here.

I question NDR’s commitment and there ability to perform any sort of litigation although I will reserve my judgment until I recieve the information pack. One thing I will remind readers is that NDR don’t seem to have a clue here and why have they waited nearly 7 years to bring arbitration?? if they are now saying that the contract is hopelessly breached, why are they going to arbitration??? Surely the contract is null and void anyway and by going to arbitartion is both costly and unproductive and open to massive unreliable interpretation by unprofession arbitrators. The quicker most effective route would be in the European Courts. NDR also have an office in Sal less that 800 meters away from Djadsal. Is it too much to get them to walk over to Djadsal and see what is going on! or heaven forbid march the extra 200 meters to the Crioula and ask big Steph (who owns the Cruioula and Djadsal and about 40000 acres of prime land on sal) what the hell is going on?

Block D is close to a finish and assuming the hardware and furnishing are close to hand, then an investment of hardwork and a small injection of say 20,000 euro and we are done. I do not agree solely with Mike and there are funds that can be released into finishing the Djadsal. I am thinking of block E, The No 1 club, the dune buggies, the brewery, the land at Pedra da lune etc before we even think of the profits of the golden goose at the Crioula. What we need is a Court order stopping dissaptaion of those assets, until D is completed. I do believe we need to twist Turinvests arm here but I have no confidence in who is doing the twisting.

It is vital that we do not fall out amongst ourselves and perhaps the democratic and cvilised way to proceed would be away from this forum and get NDR to organise an investors meeting (at no cost to us) and to decide a plan and go with i 😈 t.

I have been chasing recently, Olivier has left Turinvest and according to solicitors that are going to be sending out a progress repoprt shortly. I imagine this can be summed with a single word…..or two the last being ALL.

Thanks David. I do think D will finish and think I the hotel road will be awesome when competed with swaying palms and street lighting. A pal told me that the lake adjacent to E has all but gone and the damp proofing has been effective,( the test will be over a year)

I do think Turinvest still look at the island as a cash cow and while they have the criuola they have a foot very firmly in sal.

We have all been very patient and I can understand totally the frustration of the investors. I personally think block d will be done by August 2013. Any earlier and chez is buying the drinks!

I don’t suppose David you have a email address for Olivier? The Turinvest email address has been down for 2 months now. I know a few people that want a few replies!!!

    Thanks for the posting.

Hi My husband and I have, like all of you, bought into an off plan apartment in Block D back in 2007. We have been fobbed off my Turinvest and have been promised it will be complete this year, we only have a small amount left to pay, so reading this forum has left me feeling quite sick.

We are staying at the Crioula next week and plan on visiting Oliver and the block to see what is going on. Can anyone offer us any advice and will anyone else from the forum be there during the period 19/3/12 to 2/4/12?

I think jean is out there and chez. Your best bet of meeting forum members is at baileys bar outside block b.

As far as Oliver is concerned he will look you in the eye and lie his arse off that’s what he is paid to do. It’s pointless pointing out the injustice of it all, the condition and state of the blocks, the delays, they will simply feign sympathy or pretend they didn’t understand the question although they can write coherent and lucid letters when chasing payments funnily enough.

I hope you are staying at the criuola at turinvests expense and enjoy the island. Any reports or pictures would be greatly received at this end!

Of course Oliver is paid to dampen fires and pay us lip service only. That is going to have to stop. We were sold a huge pile of crap by the previous incumbents of that job and I for one would feel very uncomfortable in simply passing on information from my paymasters that I knew not to be true or at least has not confirmed myself and taking money for it. I hope oliver has more intergrity and decency. i i know that is not what you meant John but I think the kid gloves have to come off with Turinvest. Oliver is the messenger and we all know what happens to them. Turinvest have not respected our patience and have treated us shamefully. I also believe that they are renaging on their 5 year building guarantee promise which is extremely worrying and has massive connotations. For example if a balcony collapses in block a on say a passing holidaymaker , who is liable? if Turinvest are not fixing the damp proofing then how do we know the structure is safe? Do all liabilities pass from Turinvest after 5 years and if so what motivation do they have for completing work under the guarantee.

Having met Oliver the challenge is this. He has looked me in the eye and promised regular updates- good or bad and provide evidence of progress That is all he has to do.

Sorry to bitch and moan but the situation has to come to a head.

John have a fab time and hope you have had better weather than we did!

Hi chez and jean. Fantastic to meet you.

I think I should put down what Oliver told me as it differs slightly from what he told you which probably enforces my opinion that he has no idea and is merely following the party line.

    Block D

The obvious question was asked and Oliver confirmed 3 times that Turinvest will complete Block D by the end of the year. He confirmed an engineer was flying over to assess the situation later this month and work wil continue firstly on block C and then in ernest on Block D. I asked why work had stopped and he confirmed in October last year the company ran out of funds. The situation has improved but I found this unconvincing and he assured me that the company would find the funds and the indication would be through collecting payments from C and or selling existing assets. “we is a bigga company” I was told. The workers are local and the work which remains is skilled and I asked if they were capable of doing this work in view of the ‘current problems’ I was assured that they could. I am not a builder or structural engineer and before I even get on to the water problem I am concerned that the job will be rushed or botched. The company will negotiate on compensation but not as contracted. I am of the opinion that we all should stand firm on this, should the time come. Turinvest are playing us and exploiting the position to their benefit. We can talk about the later. I left Oliver in no doubt that as far as I was concerned, the contract is null and void and has no jurisdiction. I can therefore issue in Italy and subpoena the company directors to attend court. I did however suggest that unless I saw an improvement in 6 months I would certainly issue (and I will) I will discuss this off site. Oliver promised regular communication and updates as a sign of goodwill and intention.

    Block E

I am unconvinced this block has a future. Oliver was rather vague and unconvincing about this block and I can only wish investors the best of luck here. I am not saying it will not complete, but I do think it may take an age.

    The Water Park and Casino

I cannot see this happening. Turinvest still own the land and presumably only have permission to build what they have submitted plans to build, ie the water park/ casino. They are trying to flog the land to subcontractors but I can’t see a queue forming to take it on and I reckon it will remain empty for years to come.

    The other Water Park

The entire devolopement seems to be floating I saw evidence of water rises in each block and particular bad was C. I have not heard a single coherent or sensible explanation for this and tried to get a balanced theory for the rising damp. Oliver offered an explanation and suggested that they have it under control and the engineer will devise a drainage and pumping system. I think this is possible but I am tempted to suggest that they will wait until the 5 years guarantee expires before telling us it cannot be done. I think block B is almost at 5 years…… The tropical resort seems to be water free as does half of the town. Unless we stand firm and insist upon a proper damp proofing scheme and not polystyrene blocks to hide the bubbling which is fooling noboday. It begs the question, how did they get the habitation license for the blocks from the local council when they water was 7 feet deep only yards away. I also question if the building works may have polluted the water and it needs to be treated before being pumped back into the sea. The owners of block c will no doubt want to sort this out before they release their final payments and you cannot blame them. I do think this is sortable and can be done by Turnvest at a reasonable price but I do think everyone must stand firm and together.

    and finally…

I loved the island, the beaches and the people. The place could really work if the mayor or local council got their act together. I accept that a bird in the hand is worth more than two in the bush but they must insist that current projects are competed or confidence in the islands will collapse. Turinvest seem to be calling the shots and that has to stop. We should form an action group and put a deadline in place with no extensions or excuses. How about the ‘people’s front of Block D’ ?
