Also, one of our party is a keen surfer – will he find it here? Will the swell be any good at this time of year? Thanks to anyone for their help
There is world class surf near Santa Maria, ‘Ponta Preta’ is a 200 metre wave. It is an intermediate-advanced surfers wave due to the tricky, shallow reef and wind & spray on take off. January to March is the surfing season, so you are visiting at just the right time. There are other waves at the beach of east Santa Maria where all the windsurfers are, surfboard hire is available, the guy to speak to is Josh Angulo. His main shop is near the Patio Antigo development in Santa Maria, any locals in town will point you in the right direction.

Alex Ricardo, on the next block back from the 3D.COM internet cafe rents rooms, very basic, but they keep them well serviced about €15 a night if I remember rightly. You will notice Alex has a shop with his name on the sign outside, ask in there.
Kim Lark is good too, she is in the main street in Santa Maria, between Nocturno cafe and Tam Tam bar. Has anyone around here got Kims contact details or know if she has a website?

They have recently agreed that the European Union President is going to be appointed in 2009. The European Union Constitution will be ratified in about five months time, once that happens, technically we will all be living happily ever after in the United States of Europe.
Coming from an armed forces background I do understand why the two wars happened David and have also performed in two naval bands on many rememberance Sunday parades. The treaty of Rome was agreed in 1947 – so no war occurred again.

Yes David, there probably are more sinister goings on at the UN, like arms dealing. They did not find it difficult to get a mandate, they would have invaded that bunch of camel jockies 6 months before they did if it was not for Tony Blair on the reins that eventually snapped. They now have the nuclear arms on the ships and submarines depolyed to the Gulf/Indian Ocean to hit over 250 nuclear targets in Iran, who is going to stop them? China cannot touch them, all Chinese hostile incoming weapons were engaged and destroyed by the US Navys battlegroup carrying the nukes weeks ago. China is nothing, yet. They have only just overtaken our pathetic little island in the world rankings. Where will they be up against a mighty European country that will have a President of its own in 2009 AND the USA?

I don’t believe in the so call united nation organisation ..them thieves, and lies ..JUST READ THIS AND YOU WILL UNDERSTAND ME :UN Troops Arming Militias They Were Meant to Disarm
The group that brought you Sex-for-Food and Money-for-Oil, now brings you Gold-for-Guns, all in the name of UNITING NATIONS and One World Order. In true UN fashion, the hypocritical and deadly corruption of that pit continues to profit on the misery of those most in need. In this instance, Pakistani UN troops sell weapons to Congolese militias they were supposed to disarm. When they figured there was money to be made, those who were sent to stop the violence and protect the innocent, once again, did the complete opposite.
And we continue to fund, with our tax dollars, these depraved, unethical hypocritical maniacs. Another feather in the cap of Condi and George for allowing the UN to get worse and run rampant during this administration. And to think the president couldn’t even manage to inspire his own Repub majority last year to confirm John Bolton. What a bunch of dolts.
UN troops ‘traded gold for guns’
Cailloux
The problem is Cailloux that the UN have to sell the militias some arms before they can disarm them. The UN Security Council are known for their arms dealing, it is just a USA controlled body to keep the rest of the world in check so the yanks can stay top of the pile.
English Unlimited – They could do with sorting out their illegal drugs transhipment issues, it gives all the Cape Verdean people a bad name, also in the future it could easily cause a gang war between criminals from Europe especially if nightclubs start opening. Politicians obviously have fingers in pies.
As for the Cape Verdian Army, all socities need some army people to help in times of natural disaster or unforeseen circumstances, also it gives potentially wayward young men something to do, a sense of belonging if they are from broken families. It can often to be useful to have soldiers to help with something.
Like invade Iraq for example.:-/

The only way Cape Verde can take control of their waters is with their own Navy. If they were to buy some ships from other nations anywhere in the world, they could refit the ships for fishery protection duties.
