Dear elglobetrotter,
unfortunately I can’t give you an exact number of %s, I can assure you, that a high number of all tourists on the islands come from U.K..
English ist spoken on Sal also outside of the airport and you will often find English speaking people.
On the other islands English is not common. French or better a little bit Portugese is adviced.Ariminum
Most tourist come from the UK then …
Doesn’t the Cabo Verde tourism department has numbers on this ?
What is the website of the Cabo Verde tourist department ?
Dear elglobetrotter,
I am not sure, wether there exist a “tourist department” at all.
You think too “european”. It is Africa, and not all parts of daily life are well organized!
So, if there are numbers, it isn’t clear, that they will also be published.
Perhaps Cape Verde as a state gave some informations to the greatest newspapaer “asemana” to inform the publicity about touristes and their destinations, where they come from. That’s it.
But also my own experiences are, that there are a lot of English people on the island, especially on Sal. You won’t be alone…lol.Ariminum
Hello,
Cape Verde has a “tourist department” but this has still no own website.
There are numbers about tourism on the National Statistics Institute which you can find on http://www.ine.cv
The numbers are not always constant, but the last ones which are for the first 6 months of 2011 are as follows:Nights spent in Cape Verde:
24,5 % British
19,6 % Italian
16 % Germans
11,9 % French
11,5 % Portuguese
5,6 % Belgium & Holland@daniel wrote:

AriminumYeah, but where on ine.cv can I find that specific info ?
Dear elglobetrotter,
If you open this link, you will find a topic named “Mapa do portal”.
Beneath you will find some buttons, e.g. “curiosidades”. Open it and you will find “Resultados do Inventário Anual aos Estabelecimentos Hoteleiros 2011”.
There are some informaons, but of course you must be able to speak Portugese.regards
