TWO NEW HOTELS OPENED ON THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS
The new RIU Hotel Touareg was opened on the Island of Boa Vista on 5 May 2011. It is the fourth 5-Star hotel (of the RIU chain) on the Cape Verde Islands.
The hotel is located directly on the kilometre-long sandy beach of Lacacão. It has 881 rooms, 5 restaurants, 2 freshwater pools with jacuzzis, 3 saltwater pools and 2 children’s pools, as well as a large conference hall. The hotel is located within the Lacacão Golf & Beach Resort, which owns a 6-kilometre strip of the coast. With the construction of additional hotels, a total capacity of approx. 2,000 beds is planned.
The Tortuga Beach Resort has now been opened by the Sol Meliá hotel group on the Island of Sal. It is situated on the beach near Ponta Preta in the vicinity of the RIU Funana and Garopa club hotels. The new hotel has 372 rooms and 358 apartments with 4 pools, several restaurants, bars, a spa and a conference hall. It is the first hotel of the Spanish Sol Meliá hotel chain on the Cape Verde Islands.
