NEW DIRECT FLIGHTS FROM THE CANARIES TO THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS
From September 11th, the largest Canary airline, "Binter Lineas Aéreas de Canarias", will fly every Thursday from Gran Canaria to Santiago Island. As of October, the Cape Verdean island will then operate every Tuesday and Friday.
One-way flights will be available from 177 € with return flights being available from 340 €. These oneway flights are relatively cheap compared to Cape Verdean airline TACV, which also serves this route twice a week. The TACV airline costs up to 90 percent of the round-trip for a one way flight. Passengers who book a link to another Canary island, for example, the route Tenerife - Gran Canaria - Santiago - Gran Canaria - Tenerife, will save approximately 30 € compared to the flight with Binter Canarias to Gran Canaria and then the connecting flight with TACV to Santiago. Another advantage is that you can easily book flights online at www.bintercanarias.com ; a service that TACV does not currently provide.
The route from the Canaries to the Cape Verde islands will see 50-seat Bombardier CRJ300 jets being used. They are being operated on behalf of Binter Canarias by Iberia subsidiary of the "Air Nostrum". The flight time between the two archipelagos is approximately two and a half hours. From the end of 2012, a weekly flight from Gran Canaria to the island of Sal is also planned.
