Cape Verde´s tourism sector which is 10% of GDP, is fastly growing in the last decade.

Here the last years which are documented by the National Institute of statistics of Cape Verde:

Growth (number of tourists) from 2000 to 2007: 115,5 %

Growth (number of tourists) from 2006 to 2007: 11,5 %

Growth in the time of international financial crisis, where countries as Spain, Greece, etc. have lowwer tourist number then the years before, Cape Verde still shows constant growth except in 2009:

Growth (number of tourists) 2008: 6,5 %

Cruise Ship growing interest in Cape Verde

Some of the world’s main cruise ship companies have begun including the island of São Vicente on their routes, namely Saga Cruises and Noble Caledonia. Cape Verde is described on Noble Caledonia’s website as an “incredibly intriguing archipelago” with beaches and “extraordinary sand dunes,” and an aridness that contrasts with “exuberant mountainous islands”.
