Daniel,

I'm working on a project about the air transport sector in Cape Verde. Do you have any info. on the hurdles that Halcyon Air is experimenting in obtaining their certification. Have they given themselves a deadline to drop their application and / or perhaps return the ATR42 or move it to another country?

Do you know of any areas where the rpivate sector would be tempted to aprticipate in the air transport sector in C.V.?

Carlos

Hello,

I know the situation was very bad with the paperwork for more then 1 year now, the CV Government seems not very interested in opening the air transport market...

I have seen the ATR at Praia Airport this week, and have heard that company will start in 1-2 weeks... hopefully this time it´s true !!

You can see a picture I have taken and posted at ecaboverde.com of the airplane parked at Praia Airport.

Best regards,
Daniel

Taken from ASemana website:

"The company will center its operations on inter-island flights, with daily flights between Sal, Praia and São Vicente serving as the flight schedule “spinal cord,” complemented by connections to the islands of Boa Vista and Fogo."

I also would like to see a timetable.

Can anyone on this site read Portugese - Halycyon are advertising flights from 31.07.08 in A Semana (on this site) but I cannot understand it ! It says "Sal Santiago Sao Vicente $7250,000 desde Boa Vista" - hope thats cost of a return ticket !

Hello,

it is very difficult ro read, as it flashes much to fast away - so I mad a snapshot of it... (what a quality of advertising !! - they should advertise on cv24 [;)] )

It says: Sal, Santiago and Sao Vicente from 7.250 CVE and Boavista from 5.000 CVE including taxes for one way.

So it is still much cheaper then TACV, although it´s not a return ticket.

Best regards,
Daniel

Thanks Daniel. Not great prices at all - it is only slightly less than I was paying with TACV a year or so ago before the prices shot up. Also, the word "from" is very alarming, we all know what that normally means .......... Was hoping they would be better than this

Its a great start,Halycyon have suggested that they will be 10 percent less than TACV. The main problem has been the price of oil, just look at the news form British Airways.

There will be an open skies policy in CV within 2 years, TACV will lose their protection and competition should reduce prices.

Hello,

I think they are considerably cheaper as TACV - much more than 10% - about 20 % !

Suppose the price Sao Vicente - Praia is 7.250 CVE, so 14.500 CVE return ticket.

What I paid some weeks ago for the same above on TACV: 18.500 CVE !!

And - don´t forget: my flight was canceled, had to sleep a night in a hotel (transfer and hotel paid by TACV), and lost a day of my time ... [xx(]

Hope Halcyonair will not be only cheaper, but also better service ! They can only win !

Best regards,
Daniel
