Hi,

We as a family with 2 kids of 13 and 15 consider going to Santa Maria, Sal over Christmas.

I saw an apartment for rent in the Djadsal Moradias Residence, Block C. I only saw some comments of Djadsal Moradias not being ready and a pool that was not ready yet.

Do you have any thoughts or insights on this?

And if it is nice, do you have tips for us?
- what is the closest or best windsurf rental location
- nice restaurants close by (I already saw enthousiastic comments on Bailey's!)
- are there grocery stores in Santa Maria
- any other good activity to do with the family

Thanks for all you comments,

Ulrik (The Netherlands)

Hi, Santa Maria has come along in leaps and bounds since I first went in 2006. There are some very nice restaurants, reasonably priced. Wind surfing is available in two main places, by the Morabeza and up the other end by Angulas. A very good supermarket called Casu by the Enecol petrol station, a new fruit and veg market. Try info@sal4rent.com for good quality, reasonably priced self catering apartments. If you want to go more expensive but lovely I like the Morabeza best.

Hello ulrik,

in Santa Maria you will find many good apartments or other posibilities to stay over Christmas.
Have a look on the button "travel" above, and there at the button "hotels and guesthouses".

There you will find all islands, also Sal.

I wish you a merry Christmas on Sal. :D

Why dont you look at going to another island - Sao Vicente - there is more to do and see on this island and nearby Santo Antao. Try looking at Kitesurf Now website - they do windsurfing too.

Hello sunset29.

I'd prefer Sal to S. Vicente too. For a family it is nicer there.
S.Vicente has less of beaches and you must go longer ways to the sea.
Although Santo Antão is my favourite island I'd stay for this first time on Sal. 8)
Only if the entire family is interested in mountains and adventure, I'd advice to go to other islands but then I'd go directly to Santo Antão only with a little necessary stay on São Vicente.

Thanks for your comments. I booked a trip and the Djadsal apartment!

So, we're looking forward to experience the island very much.

Hello ulrik,

It is definately a good idea, to discover the other islands. But you should notice, that the other islands are not so developed like Sal.
Therefore they are a real adventure. :D

We went to Sau Vincente and Sau Antonio one trip and it was lovely and is an adventure. Sal is much more developed with excellent restaurants and beach side facilities. Day trips via air are available for Fogo which I have been told is a fantastic day out, if long. I hope to do it later this year.

Hello AJW,

the islands are called/written São Vicente and Santo Antão. You won't find them by your writing.
